CHAPTER 2: GEOGRAPHY

YENI BAYAZID (KAMO) DISTRICT

Yeni Bayazid (Nor Bayazid, since 1959 Kàmo) – is administrative district in the north of Armenia. It is organized in 1930. It is located on bank of of Lake Goycha. It is bordered upon Kotak (Abovyan), Akhta (Razdan), Sevan and Martuni. Territory is 637 km2, the population - 26704 persons (1978). It is located on distance of 98 km from Yerevan.

Brief history: The district in the past was included into northwest part Sunik province, from 885 was under authority Baghratid, with 10th till 12th centuries – Seljug Turkish. Territory of Yeni Bayazid district entered to Irevan khanate, was a part of Goychay district from 15th to 19th centuries (till 1828). After connection of Armenia to Russia the territory of district was in content of Irevan province.

Population: There are Armenians and Azerbaijanians historically domicile in the territory of district. Till 1830 Azerbaijanians had advantage in district. However during the subsequent period due to accommodation in district in 1829-1830 the number of Armenians who arrived from Bitlis, Alashkerd, Mush, Sasun of Turkey province has increased. There were lived Azerbaijanians in 18 of 14 villages of district in 1897 (in 5 villages is mixed). In Armenian-Muslim slaughter of 1905 living in territory of district Azerbaijanians have undergone to prosecutions and persecutions.

In 1918-1920 when interethnic enmity again has inflamed, the Armenians who have especially arrived from Turkey, have begun new slaughter in the Azerbaijan villages (Aghzibir, Aggala, Ayrivank, etc.). All Azerbaijan villages were collapsed, burnt, the population was violently driven away from the native grounds. The Armenian gangster group led by Andranik attacks villages Agzybir, Àghgala, Bighli, Ayrivank, etc. where Azerbaijanians lived. This attack took place in one of snow days of March, 1918. Armenians of Sevan have taken part in an attack and Yeni Bayazidà led by one of approached Andranik Vakhram.

In the list which kept in documents of the Azerbaijan state archive, testifying to destruction and a robbery of Muslim villages of Irevan province till March, 1918 it is specified: «From 1 and 11 police stations of Yeni Bayazid district below specified villages were destroyed with the population:

From the story of the alive witness of these events Idris Sadigov: It was March, 1918. There were some days till holiday Novruz. Events in Transcaucasia interested also Azerbaijanians from Yeni Bayazidà. Brutal actions of gangster group Andranik in Zangazur excited all of us, aroused hatred to them. In one frosty day after midday have heard, that Armenians from the next villages led by Andranik attack villages where Azerbaijanians lived. Seeing, that events become intense, Azerbaijanians gathering and mountains Agmangal were directed aside. The purpose was, that all (Azerbaijanians) have gathered here and through Lake Goycha (Sevan) have reached up to Basarkechar (Vardenis) and Chambarak (Krasnoselo). In a way of a cold and a frost have died more than 2500 women, children, old men. The Armenian gangsters undressed dead women, naked them threw on a snow, cut their breasts. It was not authorized to take away died, to bury them. With the big difficulties, sustaining losses, people have punched to themselves road. Have passed a mountain part at night sat Aggala and had reached Lake Goycha. By boats have crossed Lake and went in Tokhluja, Shorja, Aghbulag. And in Lake have lost many people. Gangster group Andranik shot after from guns, rifles, heated boats. The surface of Lake Goycha has been covered with corpses of people. It is impossible to compare this reprisals inflicted to Azerbaijanians.

In Yeni Bayazid district there were Azerbaijan villages and inhabitants of Abbas golu, Àggala, Àghzibir, Bashkand, Gul Ali, Ayrivank, Ali village, Chopur Ali, Ahmadli, Kavar (Yeni Bayazid), Norashen, Haji Mughan, Huseynbeyli. We give separate articles about them.

Abbas golu (Gulluja) – is dead village in Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province, present territorial division - in district Sevan. Here, basically, Azerbaijanians lived. At the end of 19th century from 670 persons, living in village, the majority of them were Azerbaijanians. Armenians came in 1828-1829 from various provinces of Turkey and Iran to this village.

Àggala - is Azerbaijan village in Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province. It is located in 12 km to the north-east of the regional center, on bank of of Lake Goycha. 39 persons in 1831, in 1873 - 192 persons, in 1886 - 253 persons, in 1897 - 331 persons, in 1904 - 424 persons, in 1914 - 507 persons, in 1916 - 520 Azerbaijanians lived in village.

In 1918 on instruction of dashnak governments of the Armenian nationalists the armed groups have attacked village, have destroyed and have plundered it, have selected all condition at the population, and, not paying attention to children, women, old men, all inhabitants have expelled from village. The part of the population was covered in mountains and with the big work has found rescue in nearby districts of Azerbaijan. After 1920 the part of inhabitants of village had returned to the native centers. Only 3 persons in 1922 and in 1926-203 Azerbaijanians have returned to the village. However houses of Azerbaijanians have been occupied by Armenians who have arrived to 1915-1918. 31 persons in 1922, in 1926 - 105 persons, in 1931 - 111 Armenians lived in village. In 1930 the village has turned to the mixed village. 442 persons in 1939, in 1959 - 587 persons, in 1970 - 220 Armenians and Azerbaijanians common lived in village. Subsequently with the purpose of exile of Azerbaijanians and liquidations of village have been incorporated villages Aggala and Ayrivank. There were an elementary school, club and a medical aid station in village. Azerbaijanians of village once and for all are expelled by the Armenian nationalists in 1988.

Aghzibir (Àbilkend, since 1945 Ajan) - is Azerbaijan village in Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province. It is located in 9 km to the south-east of the regional center, in northwest of Lake Goycha. Within the Soviet authority rural council entered into Mugan. 108 persons in 1831, in 1873 - 380 persons, in 1886 - 557 persons, in 1897 - 696 persons, in 1904 - 755 persons, in 1914 - 1068 Azerbaijanians lived in village. In 1918 on the basis of the instruction dashnak the governments the village has been plundered, burnt, more than 1000 persons, including children, old men, women, has undergone to a robbery, the part of the population is exterminated, and escaped after tortures have been expelled. Muslim villages of the Irevan province which was destroyed up to March, 1918 and the village Agzibir are included in the list. Agzybir village is registered in the list under ¹ 193. 116 facilities available there, switching 755 persons (413 men and 342 women) were annihilated.

Subsequently the part of the population of village has managed to return to the native centers. 327 persons in 1922 has come back, in 1926 their number has decreased up to 165 persons in 1931 - has reached 295 persons in village. However, since 1920, having taken advantage of exile of Azerbaijanians, and Armenians who have moved from Turkey resettled in this Azerbaijan village. In village alongside with Azerbaijanians have been placed 276 (Azerbaijanians 165) in 1926, in 1931 – 365 (295Azerbaijanians) Armenians. Thus, since 1930, especially Azerbaijan village became mixed, and then, as is known, the Armenian village. There were an eight-year school, club, library, a department of communication, workshop of consumer services of population, a medical aid station In village. During 1948-1949 when Azerbaijanians violent evicted from Armenia, all Azerbaijanians living in village from here have been expelled. Party and statesman Habib Hasanov are from this village.

Ayrivank (Ayrivan) - is Azerbaijan village. Before it was entered in Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province. It is located in 12 km to the north-west of the regional center, on the western bank of of Lake Goycha. This historically ancient village till 1918 was especially Azerbaijan village. After genocide of Azerbaijanians the village was Armenized. According to Z. Korkodyan, from 1831 to 1920 there were no Armenians in the village183. 65 persons in 1831, in 1873 - 326 persons in 1886 - 451 persons, in 1904 - 708 persons, in 1914 - 896 Azerbaijanians lived in village. In 1918 under the instruction of dashnak governments the armed groups Andranik have wiped out this Azerbaijan village, «96 facilities with the population 706 persons (380 men, 326 women) have annihilated, have plundered houses». As soon as Azerbaijanians have been expelled, Armenians arrived from various provinces of Turkey in 1915-1918 have been placed in this village, and thus the village was Armenized. Nowadays - especially Armenian village.

In this ancient Azerbaijan village there are rests of fortresses and cemeteries. Most known of them is Ayrivank monument (IX-X centuries).

Ali Kend – is dead village in Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province. Azerbaijanians had lived here.

Ahmadli – is dead village in Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province. Ruins are on bank of of the river Ayrija. At the end of 19th century the Azerbaijan families lived in this village totally 15 persons.

Haji Mughan (Mughan-1935) - is Azerbaijan village. Till 1918 only Azerbaijanians lived in this village. It is located in 16 km to the southeast of the regional center. 437 persons in 1873, in 1886 - 670 persons, in 1897 - 882 persons, in 1904 - 1034 persons, in 1914 - 1080 persons, in 1916 - 1255 only Azerbaijanians lived in village. In 1918 under the instruction dashnak governments gangster groups Andranik have destroyed village, have plundered the population, have exterminated a part of people, despite of children, women, old men and after escaped have been subjected to tortures and are expelled, village have seized by Armenians who have arrived from provinces of Turkey Bayazid and Alashkerd. After overthrow dashnak the governments in Armenia in 1922 about 100 refugees from the population of village, having returned on the grounds, have seen, that 339 Armenians have located here. 682 Armenians in 1926, 115 Azerbaijanians in 1931 lived in village, in 1931 Armenian population has increased, having reached 1064 persons, and Azerbaijanians have made only 195 persons. So, Haji Mughan before the mixed village, after exile of Azerbaijanians became completely Armenian village.

Huseynbeyli – is dead village in Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province. 658 Azerbaijanians lived here in 1906.

Gul Ali (Garmir Gug - 1940) – is the mixed village in Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province. It is located in 3 km to the south-east of the regional center. Till 1831 was the Azerbaijan village. In 1831 after Armenian emigrants who arrived from district of Bayazid of Turkey placed here gradually Azerbaijanians have been superseded from village. Nowadays - especially Armenian village. There is information that 27 Azerbaijanians lived in 1897 in this village.

Bashkand (Gokchali, Gocharkunik-1946) - is Azerbaijan village in Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province. It is located in 12 km to the south-west of the regional center. Before it was especially Azerbaijan village. After Armenians arrived in this village in 1828-1829 from Bayazid, Mush and Alashkerd districts of Turkey, it has turned to the mixed village where Armenians and Azerbaijanians lived together. In 1873 in village, 191 Azerbaijanians, 272 Armenians lived in 1886 accordingly - 385 persons and 243 persons, in 1897 - 440 and 357 Armenians and Azerbaijanians. In 1918 Armenian armed gangster groups violently have expelled Azerbaijanians from their native places. After an establishment of the Soviet authority in Armenia the survived Azerbaijan refugees of village again began to return to native places. There were 763 Armenians and 98 Azerbaijanians - refugees have returned in 1922 in village. In 1926 the number of Armenians had increased and had reached 928 persons, and Azerbaijanians - only 112 persons, in 1931. Armenians became 1156 persons, but Azerbaijanians - 194 persons. Azerbaijanians again have been violently moved to Azerbaijan in 1948-1950. Nowadays is especially Armenian village.

Deligardash (Sarukhan-1939) – is the mixed village. It is located in 7 km to the south of the regional center, on the right to bank of of the river Ayrija. Before it was the Azerbaijan village. In 1830 Armenians have been placed in village which arrived from Bayazid district of Turkey province, and Azerbaijanians have been superseded. There is information that 125 Azerbaijanians lived here in 1897. In 1918 and they have been expelled, the village became Armenian.

Kavar (Yeni Bayazid, since 1959 Kàmo) – is a mixed village in Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province. Since 1950 – it is city. Azerbaijan population of village - natives, and Armenians are newcomers. After Armenians have been placed in village Kavar which arrived from Bayazid district of Turkey province in 1830 they have changed the name of village, and it began to refer to Yeni Bayazid. After it Armenians have made the majority in this village (city). Since 1930 it is the regional center. 283 Azerbaijanians lived here in 1897. In 1918 gangster group Andranik has used violence above the Azerbaijanians living in village, escaped violently have been expelled from village. After an establishment of the Soviet authority in Armenia in 1920 Azerbaijanians who before lived in the small part of Kavar has returned back: in 1922 - 12 persons, in 1926 - 15 persons, in 1931 - 69 persons were Azerbaijanians. And they have been expelled in 1988.

Kerimkend (Zakhgashen-1940) – is the mixed village. After Armenians arrived in 30th of 19th century have made the majority. It is located in 6 km to the south-west of the regional center. 115 Azerbaijanians, 511 Armenians lived in 1897 in village. In 1918 Azerbaijanians have been expelled. Since then is especially Armenian village.

Kosamammad (Badikyan-1945) – is the mixed village. Before it was the Azerbaijan village. After Armenians have been placed in village which arrived from Bayazid district of Turkey province also has made the majority of the population. It is located in 8 km to the southeast of the regional center. 115 Azerbaijanians lived in 1897 in village. In 1918 and they have been violently expelled.

Chopur Ali – is dead village in Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province. 28 Azerbaijanians lived here in 1829-1832.

Effendi (Rahman kend, Norashen - 1938) - is Azerbaijan village in Yeni Bayazid district (nowadays district Sevans) of Irevan province. It is located in 9 km to the south-east of the regional center, on northeast bank of of Lake Goycha. Till 1918 only Azerbaijanians lived in village. In 1831 in village lived 28 persons, in 1873 - 224 persons, per 1886 the persons, in 1897422 persons, in 1908479 persons, in 1914-654 Azerbaijanians. In 1918 Armenian dashnak have wiped out this village with an ancient history (in village there are the rests of the Albanian church concerning to 12th-17th centuries, oghuz cemeteries), have plundered, have in part exterminated and have expelled the population. Since then Azerbaijanians did not live in village. After a substantiation Armenians arrived here in 1915-1918 from various provinces of Turkey of the village has turned to the Armenian village. Therefore such erroneous information is given in the Armenian Soviet encyclopedia as if the village is based in 1920 185

MARTUNINI DISTRICT

Martini (from 1830 till 1922 Ashaghi Garanlig, from 1926 Martuni) – is administrative district in Armenian SSR. It is organized in 1930. There are on distance of 130 km from irevan. It is located in a southwest Lakes Goycha (Sevan). It is bordered upon Yeni Bayazid (Kamo) and Basarkechar (Vardenis) districts. The square is 1185 km2. The population were - 71727 (1981) persons. The mountain district, all settlements are located at height more than 2000 m above sea level.

Brief history. In the past it was in structure of Gegarkunik district of Sunik province. In 10th-12th centuries the territory of district was under authority of Turkish Seljug. After connection of Armenia to Russia (1828) 600 Armenian families (5000 persons) from provinces of Turkey Alashkerd, Mush and Ighdir have been placed in territory of district. Territory of district Martuni under name of Ashaghi Garanlig entered in Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province up to day. In territory of district there is a set concerning to 5th-9th centuries of historical monuments, the Albanian churches and fortresses.

The population. Historically in territory of district Azerbaijanians and Armenians lived. Till 19th century the majority was made by Azerbaijanians. It is proved also with former names of all villages. However, accommodation arrived here in 1828-1830 from Turkey and Iran many Armenians became the reason of that Armenians in district had made the majority. In the beginning of 20th century the genocide of Azerbaijanians had led to that they in district Martunin had been compelled to leave the historical grounds. In spite of the fact that during population censuses of Armenia in 1831-1931 a number of mistakes had been admitted, changes of ethnic development in district was following. Though, there were 3702 Armenians in 1831 (the majority arrived) and 1109 Azerbaijanians, in 1873 - accordingly 13760 and 1273, in 1886 - 19016 and 1559, in 1897 - 22876 and 2615, in territory of district, the ambassador Armenians are sharp 1918 in 1922 had made 32104 persons, and Azerbaijanians only 363 persons, i.e. almost in 100 times is less than Armenians. After 1930, only Armenians lived here. The articles about a part of Azerbaijan villages existing up to 20th century are given in alphabetic order. These are, basically, the following villages: Abdul Aghali (Vagashen), Atamkhan (Vartazor), Atdash (Shatir Shahar), Aligirikh (Astvadzor), Alikand (Mollali), Ahmadagha, Aligirikh chayi (Astvadzor chayi), Ashaghi Alchali (Ardzvanist), Ashaghi Gozaldara (Vartenik), Veli Àghala (Zorakug), Gizilkharaba (Ayrija), Yanikh, Yukhari Alchali (Ardzvanist), Karvansaray, Kesik bash (Lernakert), Medina, Khartilig (Zakhgashen).

Abdul Aghali (Vagashen - 1935) – is the mixed village in present Martunin of Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province. 667 Armenians (together with arrived of Turkey) and 100 Azerbaijanians lived in 1897. After 1920 is extremely Armenian village.

Atamkhan (Vartazor - 1946) - the mixed village in territory of present Martunin of Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province. Armenians came to this village in 1828 from Turkey. Nowadays, it is completely the Armenian village.

Atdash (Shatir Shahar) – is dead village near the Medina on territories of present Martunin of Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province. There are at height of 2262 m above sea level. Ruins were kept.

Aligirikh (Astvadzor-1935) - is mixed village. It is located in 5,5 km to the south-east Martunin regional center, on bank of of Lake Goycha, at height of 2048 m above sea level. The first Armenian population in this village had come from Alashkert and Van in 1828-1829. Nowadays, it is Armenian village.

Alivillage (Mollali) - the mixed village in territory of present Martunin district of Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province. After 20th, the Armenian population was moved in village Ardzvanist, and the village Alikand was liquidated.

Ahmadagha – is a rural site in 4-5 km to the south-west of Tàzàkand, in territory of present Martunin district of Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province..

Aligirig chayi (Astvadzor chayi) – is the river, prevailing swung at village Aligirikh in Martunin district and running into Lake Goycha. Its extent is 22 km.

Ashaghi Alchali (Mollali, Ardzvanist - 1968) - is Azerbaijan village. It is located in 18 km to the north-east of the regional center, in 2 km from Lake Goycha, on bank of of river Goycha (Alchali). Up to 19th century, this village referred to Garasaggal. After accommodation, the Armenians who had arrived here in 1829-1830 from Alashkert (it was especial from villages Gorun and Muson), Azerbaijanians had moved in other part - in Yukhari Alchali and Ashaghi Alchali, at the end of 19th century became the Armenian village.

Ashaghi Gozaldara (Vartenik-1945) – is the mixed village. It is located in 13 km to the north of the regional center on bank of of the river Vardenis. Historically Azerbaijanians lived in this village. However, as in village Armenians had been placed by arrived in 1828-1830 from Iran and Turkey, already at the end of 19th century Armenians made the majority. 31897 in village were 2908 Armenians while Azerbaijanians were only 108 persons. After 1918 Azerbaijanians had been completely expelled. Since then, it is especially Armenian village.

Vali Àghala (Zorakug - 1946) – is the mixed village. It is located in 8 km to the north-east of the regional center. Armenians and Azerbaijanians lived here. After substantiation, Armenians arrived in village in 1828-1829 from Turkey, gradually Azerbaijanians had been superseded. Only 41 Azerbaijanians were in Veli Àghala Village in 1897. After 1918, it became the largest Armenian village.

Gol (Gol kand, Lichk - 1935) - is the mixed village. It is located near the Gozaldere on territories of Martunin district, at height of 2240 m above sea level. After 20th, it is Armenian village.

Garanlig (Gekhovit - 1968) – is the mixed village in territory of present Martunin district of Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province. It settles down on road to Martuni-Yekhegnadzor, in 3,5 km to the west Martunin regional center. Before, it was the Azerbaijan village, and after accommodation, Armenians from Alashkert and Mush moved here in 1828-1829, they had made the majority here, from the beginning of a century – it is especially Armenian village.

Gizilkharaba (Ayrija) - is Azerbaijan village in Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province. Only Azerbaijanians lived in village till 1918. There were 188 persons in 1873, in 1886 - 136 persons, in 1897 - 125 persons, in 1916 - 249 Azerbaijanians. The village had been plundered, destroyed by the Armenian nationalists, and the population was subjected to tortures and expelled in 1918. Since this year, Armenians were placed arrived from Turkey in village. 537 Armenians were placed in this village in 1931. Since, Azerbaijanians did not live in village.

Karvansaray (Ayrija, Ayrichay) - is Azerbaijan village. Only Azerbaijanians lived in village till 1918. Medina’s Villages were located in 10-12 km to the south-east of the regional center, on bank of of the river Argish. 168 persons lived in village in 1873, in 1886 - 205 persons, in 1897 - 310 Azerbaijanians. The Armenian nationalists have destroyed village once and for all, have expelled Azerbaijanians, and village Armenized in 1918. Nowadays, it is Armenian village.

Kesik Bash (Gasim Bashi, Lernakert - 1945) - is Azerbaijan village. Ruins nowadays are near the Medina village. Ruins of buildings and traces of a cemetery were kept only. 77 Azerbaijanians lived in village in 1914.

Medina - is Azerbaijan village. It is located in 10 km to the south-east of the regional center, on bank of of the river Argish. In 1873 in village lived 208 persons, in 1886 - 296 persons, in 1897 - 346 persons, in 1916 - 736 Azerbaijanians. After slaughter of 1918 Azerbaijanians have been completely expelled from village. To take hold of the fertile grounds of village, Armenians of village Ashagi Gedashen of the same district have grasped this large Azerbaijan village. Since then is Armenian village.

Khartilig (Zakhgashen - 1945) - is Azerbaijan village. Ruins are near the village Medina, located in 10 km to the south-east of the regional center. In this village in 1873 lived 144 persons, in 1886 - 162 persons, in 1897 - 190 Azerbaijanians. The village in 1918 has been completely burnt by the Armenian nationalists, the population is exterminated, and the rest have been compelled to be rescued by flight. Since then the village lays in ruins. Ruins, ruins of houses and the rests of a rural cemetery were kept only.

Yukhari Adiyaman (Gedashen - 1946) - the mixed village. It is located in 3 km to the east Martunin regional center, there, where the river Argij runs into Lake Goycha, at height of 2016 m above sea level. The first Armenian population has arrived here to 1828-1829 from Alashkert, Mushà and Torpaggali. 187 Nowadays – is especially Armenian village.

Yukhari Alchali (Mollali, Garasaggal, Ardzvanist - 1968) - is Azerbaijan village. It is located in 18 km to the north-east of the regional center, on bank of of Lake Goycha, at height of 2155 m above sea level. Till 20th in this village Azerbaijanians lived only. In 1831 in village were 99 persons, in 1873 - 371 persons, in 1886 - 505 persons, in 1897 - 701 persons, in 1914 - 875 Azerbaijanians. In 1918 under the instruction dashnak governments about 1000 Azerbaijanians of village it has been subjected to tortures and it is expelled, and in their houses Armenians are placed by arrived of Alashkert a province of Turkey. In 192288 persons, in 1926 - 252 persons of willows of 1931 - 511 Armenians lived in the Azerbaijan village. After an establishment of the Soviet authority in Armenia in 1922134 Azerbaijanians, wished to return on the grounds, have been expelled. After that sat completely Armenized and had turned to the Armenian village.

Yukhari Gozaldara (Gekhadzor verin) – is the mixed village. It is settled down south-east of Martini, in 4 km to the south of village Ashagi Gozaldara (Vartenik), on bank of of the river Gozaldere. It was Azerbaijan village before. Armenians who have come from Alashkert have located in 1878 here. The village has been liquidated in 1950.

Yanikh - is Azerbaijan village. It is located in 13 km to the north-east of the regional center, on bank of of Lake Goycha. Up to the middle of 1920 only Azerbaijanians lived in this village: in 1873 - 194 persons, in 1886 - 245 persons, in 1897 - 303 persons, in 1916 - 423 persons. After slaughter of 1918 Azerbaijanians have been expelled, and the village was grasped arrived of Alashkert by Armenians. There were 163 Armenians in 1936, 37 Azerbaijanians, and after exile in 1931 of Azerbaijanians completely, there were 186 Armenians. Nowadays - especially Armenian village.

SEVAN (YELENOVKA ) DISTRICT

Sevan – is administrative district in Armenia. It is formed on September, 9, 1930. The square is - 338 km2, the population - 17400 persons (the population of the city of Sevan here does not enter, 1982). It is located in northwest the Goycha (Sevan) Lake. It is mountain district.

The population of district prior to the beginning of 20th century consisted of Azerbaijanians, Armenians and kurds. Azerbaijanians were superseded and expelled to Basarkechar, Krasnoselo and other adjoining districts before of the century. Despite of it and until now in the written literature names of settlements, mountains, the rivers which are taking place in district Sevan are kept. These toponomies are listed in alphabetic order here. They below-mentioned: Àghdara, Adam darasi, Ada, Atdash, Àlpanakh, Gozaldara (Gekhadir), Gozaldara, Gozaldagh, Kesh karvani, Goycha dere, Goycha denizi, Ordekli (Berdunk), Terse chay, Shah daghi (Sevan daghi), Shahrizli (Kerim kend).

Àrmaghan (Geramsky) a ridge of mountains - mountains, it was on 68 km, width of 48 km, in a direction of the western meridian of Lake Goycha. The height of separate mountains reached 2400-2500 m.

Alpanakh - mountain in district of headwaters of the river Zangi in pool of Lake Goycha.

Atdash - the name of the river, the left inflow of the river Arkhach in pool of Lake Goycha.

Aghgala - a site of village in Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province. There are on the left bank of of Lake Goycha, close villages Anrivank, to the south-east of it. 30 Azerbaijan families lived here at the end of 19th century. Nowadays, it is dead village.

Ada (peninsula Ardanish) - peninsula in northeast.

Àdàm darasi (Adamkhan) - the name of the river running into Lake near the river Adamkhan in pool of Lake Goycha.

Ala gol (Kichik Agha gol) - is Lake in pool of Lake Goycha, in its southeast. It was at height of 2743 m above sea level. It extended from the West on the east of 2300 m, and from the south on the north - 828 m. The square is 1,6 km2. Volume of water of Lake is 9,4 million m3.

Gozaldara (Gekhadzor) - the name of the river in river basin Arpachay, its left inflow.

Gozaldara (Basarkechar, Vardenis) - the name of the river in pool of Lake Goycha.

Gozaldagh - mountain, in mountain ridge Shahdaghi (Sevan), in northeast of Lake Goycha. It is located in northwest from peninsula Ardanish (Adatapa). Height is 2580 m.

Gesh Karvani - ancient a vein a file in present of Sevan of Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province. It was located in 1 km from village Dmashen. Nowadays, it is dead village.

Goycha darasi (Sevan gol) - Lake in Armenia.

Goycha danizi (Sevan gol) - Lake in Armenia.

Gol chay (Yeznaniyet) - the river in pool of Goycha Lake.

Ordakli (Berdunk) - the mixed village in Yeni Bayazid district of Irevan province. The nowadays - Armenian village.

Tarsa chaya (Chambarak, Gedik) - the river originating from mountains Agmangan. There are at height of 2450 m above sea level. It’s extented of 58 kms.

Shahrizli (Karimkand, Gegamavan - 1946) - the mixed village in district Sevan It is located on the left side of a highway Irevan-Sevan, from three sides is surrounded with mountains, there are at height of 1856 m above sea level. Before was the Azerbaijan village, and after accommodation here moved in 1828-1829 from a province of Iran to Maku and from Alashkert of Turkey province of Armenians the village Armenized. 1392 Armenians and 180 Azerbaijanians lived in 1897 in village. After 20th, is the Armenian village.

Besides in territory of district Sevan there were Azerbaijan villages Chubuhlu (Zovagug). Afandi (Norashen), Chirchir (Varser), Yayiji (Zovaber) about which history we have no information and consequently about them have not found necessary to place separate articles.
