Bloody February in the history of Karabagh War

February is embodied in the history of Karabagh war with its signs in different years.

The events happened in this month explain the essense of many conflicts, demonstrate the Armenian savageries, defines Armenians’ crafty purposes. Bloody events in Khankandy, Asgaran, Sumgayit, Khojaly happened in this month. Is this a coincidence or conformity?! It does not matter. A glance to the events taken place in February is enough to have an idea on the war. One of the exciting cases in these bloody events happened in this month is the distortion by “Armenian ideologists”. There is a need to explain the events happened in Bloody February.

Armenians obviously demonstrated their claims on Daghlig-Karabagh in the February 1988. First events which turned to the serious conflict happened in this year. First rallies were held with demand of joining Daghlig-Karabagh to Armenia in Yerevan and Khankandy on 10-15 February. The rallies held in Khankandy was organized by emissaries came from Armenia. According to the witnesses local Armenians were passive and joined the rallies only under the pressure of “bearded” came from Armenia. The meeting of “Regional Soviet” was held on 20 February and they passed the decision on consolidating Daghlig-Karabagh to Armenia. They did not let the Azerbaijanis from Daghlig-Karabagh to participate in this meeting. On 24 February, Azerbaijanis held demonstration in Asgaran city. The people of neighbor villages also participated in this action. Armed Armenians shot the peaceful people. As a result, 2 Azerbaijanis died and 19 men were wounded. Armenians showed that they are not interested regulating the events in peace by dialogue. Armenians tried to shed a blood very often in order not to left people to solve problem in peace and to hold negotiations. The bloodshed in Sumgayit on 28 February was realized with this purpose. At the eve of this event, more than 4 thousand Azerbaijanis banished from Armenia dwelled in this city and they were very angry against Armenians. That is why it was possible to hold wide unrest here. 32 people, 26 Armenian and 6 Azerbaijanis were killed in this bloodshed. These bloodsheds were organized by special service bodies of Armenia under the leadership of Moscow. Later the head of the “KQB” USSR, N. Ktyuchkov acknowledged that bloody events took place in Baku, Sumgait, and Tbilisi were realized under Sabotage Groups of Moscow. As organizers of Sumgait events two men were arrested: one of them was Ahmad Ahmadov, Azerbaijani and the other was Eduard Grigoryan, Armenian. There are hundreds of facts proving that E. Grigoryan himself ordered to burn Armenian houses and kill them. Whilst, the court sentenced Ahmad Ahmadov to death and the sentence was conducted immediately. E.Grigoryan was arrested for 12 years and was freed after several years with help of Armenian defenders. It is doubtless that he was send to Sumgayit by Armenian special service bodies to hold that sabotage. Armenians tried to prepare create the savage Azerbaijani image by procreating the “Armenian bloodshed”. The book “Daghlig-Karabagh: the culprits of the tragedy are known” written by Armenian author Robert Arakelov proves our sentences. It is said that: “There is such an idea among the people in Stepanakert that we could not use the Sumgayit events on our behalf”.

Armenians from Sumgayit confirmed that the Sumgayit events were held by Armenians themselves. For example: L. Mejmulyan said: “Grigoyran entered to my apartment, neat my mother with the leg of the table. I tried to put up a resistance but as I could not. I am a woman. And he knocked me down and did what he wanted to do”. Najafov who witnessed this event said: “The Armenian group organized by Grigoryan entered to the house of Emma. She was an Armenian. They immediately undressed her and Edik Grigoryan suggested taking her out in this condition. Then Emma was killed by his participation”. These facts show the Armenian cruelty.

Then, Armenians burned all bridges by creating Khojaly genocide on February 1992 and destroyed all the perspectives of regulating the conflict by means of negotiations. On 25-26 February 1992, Armed Armenians attacked defenseless Khojaly city, destroyed the city and killed the peaceful people. As a result of Khojaly genocide, 613 peaceful people as well as 63 children, 106 women and 70 old men were killed with cruelty. The witnesses of the event told about the terrible facts. Those armed Armenians who participated in Khaojaly attack also remember that day with horror. Mikhail Gazar4yan remembers: “Of course, I understood that I participate in the war but I could not imagine that I would shot them children and kill them”. Ashot Barkhudaryan said: “People were shouting and crying. Azerbaijanis were in the center of the road. Tanks were driving over them”. Rantik Mirzoyan, from Yerevan remembers that night as follows: “And I saw the cruelty that Armenians did… Dead bodies were in everywhere”. The memories of Khojaly habitants, Azerbaijanis who could escape that genocide and stayed alive is more terrific. Sanubar Alakbarova notes: “The was a dead bodies mountain. They shot my mother. They wounded my daughters Sevinj and Hijran. They shot me as well. Many young women and children were killed”. Ramil Hasanov who was eleven years on that year, remember that night: “I can never forget how my friends Elchin and Elgiz were killed in the forest. Their feet were frozen and could run with us. They were lying on snow in silence and closed their eyes.” Sariyya Talibova witnessed the horror events: “They took us to Armenian cemetery… They sacrificed 4 Mehseti Turks and 3 Azerbaijanis over the grave of Armenian fighters… Later they brought two Azerbaijanis who were wearing uniform of National Army. They pulled out their eyes by iron with sharp end”.

These bloodsheds held by Armenians can not be compared with any tragedy of the world. Azerbaijan nation will never forget and forgive these Armenian cruelties. There is no place in the world union to Armenian who did this bloodshed. The world union will understand this and make its decision. All Azerbaijanis will have only one position till the last victory:

There is no Azerbaijan without Karabagh!

We would either return Karabagh or the die!
